Greece’s PM talks with Palestinian leader about humanitarian aid for Gaza

Greece’s Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, informed his Palestinian counterpart Muhammad Shtayyeh on Thursday that Greece is prepared to support further humanitarian efforts to Gaza.

According to Ekathimerini, Mitsotakis said Greece is in communication with its partners in Cyprus and aim to establish a “humanitarian corridor” by sea to transport aid to the Gaza Strip.

Shtayyeh addressed Mitsotakis’ offer by stating that “if we and you can find a way to actually provide that humanitarian aid through any avenue possible, I think that would be a good idea.”

During the meeting, Mitsotakis also emphasised Greece’s long-standing support for the two-state solution and noted that only a political solution on this basis can guarantee stability in the region.
