South Melbourne FC to wear black armbands in tribute to Leonidas Ouzounis

South Melbourne FC will pay tribute to Leonidas Ouzounis at their upcoming match against Port Melbourne FC on Saturday, July 22.

Leonidas is the father of Kathy Maikousis and father-in-law of South Melbourne President Nicholas Maikousis. He passed away this week.

Leonidas is also the grandfather of SMFC Hall of Fame member Leigh Minopoulos and Kathy’s children, Ashley and Dillon, who both an important role within the football club.

To honour Leonidas’ legacy, players at South Melbourne FC will wear black armbands on Saturday as they face Port Melbourne at SS Anderson Reserve from 3.30pm.

In a Facebook post, South Melbourne passed on their condolences to the friends and family of Leonidas.

“We send our love to the Maikousis, Minopoulos and Ouzounis families during this tough time,” the post reads.
