Plans in motion for Greece to face Australia in Melbourne friendly

·

Hellenic Football Federation (EPO) President Makis Gagatsis recently met with Greece’s Secretary General of Sport George Mavrotas and Victoria’s Minister for Environment, Tourism, Sport and Major Events, Steve Dimopoulos, during the latter’s visit to Greece.

During the meeting, Gagatsis accepted a proposal for the Greek National Team to play a friendly match against Australia in Melbourne, similar to previous encounters in 2006 and 2016, ideally within the next two years.

The match aims to give thousands of Greek expatriates the chance to see their national team up close.

Gagatsis noted that the request will be considered at an appropriate time by Greece’s manager Ivan Jovanovic in consultation with Football Australia, taking into account both teams’ existing competitive commitments.
