Aaron Zerefos confirmed for ninth Bathurst 12 hour start

·

Versatile racer Aaron Zerefos will join Griffith Racing for the 2024 Repco Bathurst 12 Hour driving the #56 Ginetta G56 GT4 alongside English drivers Colin White and Owen Hizzey.

It will be Zerefos’ ninth start in the marathon endurance race at Mount Panorama, and he is excited to be returning to the holy grail of Australian motorsport.

Meanwhile, the car features a Ginetta built 6.2 litre V8 engine, with a power output of 500 hp.

“I’m excited for my ninth 12 Hour and look forward to what the Mountain has in store for 2024,” Zerefos said.

“I’m looking forward to racing with Team Ginetta and Griffith Racing.

“Racing is in my blood man – I love it and I’m always here for the competition.

“The 12 Hour is a race I’ve always enjoyed – I competed for seven years in a row from 2012 to 2018 aboard Porsches, and my last start in 2022 was also in a Porsche, but I’m looking forward to the challenge of the Ginetta.”

Zerefos recently tested the Ginetta at Queensland Raceway with the Griffith Racing outfit.

“I got a good feel for the Ginetta at QR – it’s going to be a good package for the long-distance race and it has plenty of Torque good for Bathurst’s long straights,” Zerefos said.

“A big thanks to Griffo for giving me the call up – I’m excited that he’s put his faith in me.

“I’m used to pressure whether it’s in business or racing so I’m heading to Bathurst to focus on the job at hand.

“The race pace is going to be potentially the fastest it’s ever been.

“Hopefully we can keep our head down, look after the equipment and come home with a good result.”

Zerefos has also signed on for the Bathurst 6 hour in April before he returns to America to join Black Sheep Racing in a Porsche GT3 Cup Car at Texas’ Circuit of the Americas in May.

Practice and qualifying for the Repco Bathurst 12 Hour will be held on Friday and Saturday, with the big race starting on Sunday at 5:45am with live international coverage on Channel 7 and Fox Sports.

The Bathurst 12 Hour is regarded as Australia’s international endurance race, attracting the world’s bests drivers including Valentino Rossi who will make his second start in the event.
