Storm Elias wreaks havoc on thousands of homes in Central Greece

In less than a month, the city of Volos in Central Greece has been devastated by a yet another extensive flood destroying thousands of homes.

Storm Elias has seen hundreds of people left stranded in villages nearby, while many residents tried to save their belongings with buckets and brooms, pushing muddy waters out.

Volos Mayer, Achilleas Beos, told AP News that “…80% of the city is without power…I don’t know where God found so much water.”

This comes as Ekathimerini reported that rescuers are also searching for the pilot and passenger inside a helicopter that went missing during Storm Elias on Thursday. The helicopter was set to touch down in Volos on Thursday morning from Athens.
