Greece to recognise degrees from 45 Australian universities

The Australian Embassy in Greece has announced that degrees from 45 Australian universities will now be recognised in Greece. 

The change comes after Greece passed a new law, known as 4957/2022, with the aim to foster job mobility, knowledge transfer, and closer links between Australia and Greece. 

In a Facebook post, The Australian Embassy in Greece said the process to be placed on Greece’s National Register of Recognised Foreign Universities will be “very simple and straightforward.”

Individuals with a Bachelor’s Degree (minimum 3 years), a Master’s Degree (minimum duration of 1 year), a Juris Doctor or a PhD, can now expect to be granted academic equivalence in 60 days from the day of application to the Hellenic National Academic Recognition and Information Centre (DOATAP). 

Currently, the following universities are on the list of recognised foreign universities:

  • The Flinders University of South Australia – Adelaide
  • La Trobe University – Melbourne
  • Macquarie University – Sydney
  • Monash University – Clayton
  • University of Adelaide – Adelaide
  • University of Melbourne – Parkville
  • University of New South Wales – Sydney
  • University of Queensland – Brisbane
  • University of Sydney – Sydney
  • University of Tasmania – Hobart
  • University of Wollongong – Wollongong
  • James Cook University of North Queensland – Townsville
  • Griffith University – Nathan
  • Sydney College of Divinity
  • University of New England – Armidale
  • Victoria University of Technology – Melbourne
  • University of Western Sydney, Nepean – Kingswood
  • Northern Territory University – Darwin
  • University of Technology – Sydney
  • University of Western Sydney, Macarthur – Campbelltown
  • Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology – Melbourne (Rmit)
  • Swinburne University of Technology – Hawthorn
