Uber rides into Santorini and other European islands ahead of the summer season

·

If you have plans for a beautiful European summer this year, making your way around the Greek island of Santorini just got a whole lot easier.

Uber has announced that UberX, Uber Black and Uber Comfort services will be launching across the Mediterranean and Balearic Islands, including other islands like Sicily, and Malta, with plans to roll out services in additional Greek and Spanish islands soon.

The decision to expand to the Mediterranean came after Uber data revealed that that rides from US guests are up nearly 500% year over year as tourists flood back to Europe.

“After a couple of challenging years for travel, we’re excited to pack our bags and get back on the road as we expand our services to some of Europe’s hottest holiday destinations,” Anabel Diaz EMEA rides General Manager of Uber said in an interview.

“Whether you’re looking to sit back and relax, enjoy a new city, or explore the road less travelled, Uber will be on hand to get you from A to B with ease and comfort, as well as inspire your destination.”

In addition to the expansion plans in Europe, Uber has integrated a new booking segment in the app called Uber Travel and It allows you to sync your Gmail with it so reservations found in your inbox, like flight information and dinner reservations, can be automatically turned into an itinerary.
