Greek Australians celebrate success in the Inner West Local Business Awards

·

This year’s Inner West Local Business Awards have been handed out and a number of Greek-owned businesses have won in their respective categories.

In the ‘Outstanding Butcher’ category, Dulwich Hill Gourmet Meats came out on top and expressed their gratitude for the recognition on social media.

“We would like to send a big thank you to all of our amazing customers and community! We appreciate all your love and support as always but especially in the past challenging year we’ve had missing a piece of us, our Necta,” the team wrote on Facebook.

“We would also like to give a big thank you to our staff who have worked and kept the business going through the hard times and heartbreak of missing Necta. As our boy says, it is an amazing feeling to be appreciated! Thank you all.”

Elsewhere, in the ‘Fast Food / Takeaway’ category, Clems Chicken Shop in Newtown nabbed the top gong.

The shop has been run by the Tsakalides family for 40 years since 1982, and it was first opened by married couple, Despina and Clem, and is now being run by Despina and her children, Spiro, Panagioti and Barbara.

The ‘Outstanding Restaurant’ award went to Corinthian Rotisserie Restaurant in Marrickville. The restaurant has previously been praised by the Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese.

Corinthian Rotisserie Restaurant is one of the most-loved socio-gastronomic Greek shops, and over the years, this Greek institution has catered for all sorts of customers, whether it was for families and their dinners, or the late-night owls who experienced cravings. Later, it became the favourite place for politicians and food connoisseurs.

“Great night at the local business awards last night, winning outstanding restaurant award. Thanks – much love and respect to everyone,” the owners wrote in social media.
