SOFIA UTS to host first-ever forum on faith, suffering and spirituality

·

The Students Orthodox Fellowship in Australia (SOFIA) at the University at Technology Sydney (UTS) will host its first-ever forum this week, marking what organisers describe as the biggest event in the group’s history.

Set for Thursday, April 23 at UTS, the forum will feature a panel of four clergy, including three parish priests and His Grace Bishop Christophoros of Kerasounta, Chancellor of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia.

The discussion will centre on the theme of suffering and faith, exploring the question: “Why does God allow suffering?” and will be followed by a Q&A session, raffle giveaway, and refreshments.

Organisers say the event aims to bring students together for “enlightening talks” and an opportunity to engage with Orthodox teachings, while also fostering community through shared discussion.

The forum will run from 5pm to 9pm at the UTS campus in Ultimo, with pizza, snacks and drinks provided.
