Liberal Leader Sussan Ley acknowledges Greek Australian contribution in Christmas message

Federal Liberal Leader Sussan Ley MP has shared a Christmas message with The Greek Herald, highlighting the importance of family, generosity and community during the festive season.

In her message, Ms Ley reflected on Australia’s diversity and paid tribute to the longstanding contribution of the Greek Australian community, while also acknowledging volunteers, emergency services and those for whom Christmas can be a difficult time.

At Christmas, we celebrate family, friendship, and community. It is a time to gather with loved ones, share in the joy of giving, and appreciate the many blessings in our lives. The festive season reminds us of the importance of kindness, generosity, and connection – the simple acts that bring happiness and meaning to our everyday lives.

Christmas is also a time to reflect on what makes Australia special. We are fortunate to live in a country built on diversity, opportunity, and mutual respect, where people from many cultures, backgrounds, and walks of life come together in harmony. The Greek Australian community has long been part of this story, sharing faith, family, and tradition, while enriching our national life through your hard work, generosity, and vibrant cultural spirit. This season highlights the values that unite us: compassion, community spirit, and hope for the year ahead.

It is also a moment to remember those for whom this season may be more difficult, and to extend small acts of kindness whenever we can. At the same time, it is an opportunity to acknowledge those who contribute to the well-being of our society, from essential and emergency services to community volunteers, whose efforts make a difference every day.
