Greek Community of Melbourne students pilot innovative workshop at the Hellenic Museum

·

On Saturday, August 23, Years 9, 10, and 11 students from the Greek Community of Melbourne School (City Campus) had the opportunity to participate in a BETA testing class of a unique educational workshop at the Hellenic Museum.

The workshop, titled “It’s All Greek to Me”, is designed for VCE-level students and focuses on developing the skills required to analyse and interpret historical primary sources and to compose analytical texts in Modern Greek.

This approach not only deepens students’ understanding of the subject, but also directly supports curriculum requirements and prepares them for success in their VCE examinations.

The students of the Greek Community of Melbourne School were the first to take part in this pilot stage, which aims to eventually support many Greek language students across Victoria.

With enthusiasm and commitment, they engaged with selected museum exhibits, studied primary sources, explored historical questions, and enhanced their skills in vocabulary, analysis, and description.

The session proved to be highly productive, educational, and enjoyable, leaving students with both valuable knowledge and memorable experiences.

The Greek Community of Melbourne Schools warmly thanked the staff of the Hellenic Museum’s Education Department for their invitation and ongoing collaboration.
