Patriarchal delegation arrives in Sydney for 2nd Pan-Australian Clergy Synaxis

Distinguished clergy and hierarchs arrived at Sydney Airport on September 24 ahead of the 2nd Pan-Australian Clergy Synaxis, to be held from September 29 to October 1.

The Patriarchal delegation includes Metropolitan Apostolos of Miletus, Abbot of the Monastery of Saint Anastasia Pharmakolytria in Chalkidiki, and Patriarchal Deacon Fr Photios Poulopoulos, representing His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.

They were warmly welcomed by His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, members of the Holy Eparchial Synod, and the Consul General of Greece in Sydney George Skemperis, among others.

Also arriving were Metropolitan Ignatios of Demetrias and Almyros, Metropolitan Gregorios of Cameroon, Metropolitan Damaskinos of Aetolia and Acarnania, and Archimandrite Fr Ignatios Mourtzanos, Protosyncellus of the Holy Metropolis of Larissa and Tyrnavos.

They were warmly welcomed by His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, members of the Holy Eparchial Synod, bishops, bishops-elect, clergy, the Consul General of Greece in Sydney George Skemperis, and community representatives, including youth from the Hellenic Lyceum of Sydney, who greeted the guests with flowers.

Archbishop Makarios thanked the visiting hierarchs and clergy for making the long journey, wishing them a “pleasant and fruitful” stay in Australia.
