The Greek Australian Writers’ festival to be held in Sydney

·

Experience the best of Greek Australian literature at the upcoming Greek Australian Writer’s Festival, presented by the Greek Festival of Sydney and UTS Journalism and Writing, directed by Dr Helen Vatsikopoulos.

The festival will be held on Sunday, April 2 from 10am to 6pm at the Beta Bar located at 238 Castlereagh Street, Sydney.

The Greek Festival of Sydney is hosting the Greek Australian Writers’ Festival to showcase books by Greek Australian writers and Australian writers telling Greek stories.

Australia’s Ambassador to Greece, Arthur Spyrou, will join from Athens for the keynote session on the legacy of Charmian Clift, the Australian journalist and writer who wrote about living on Kalymnos and Hydra islands. Nearly 60 years after they were published, they have only just been translated into Greek.

The evolution of Greeks in Australia asking ‘Are we White yet?‘ will also be discussed. This will be recorded by the ABC’s Radio National Big Ideas program. Plus, the publication Children of the Revolution will be launched and distributed.

The 45-minute sessions will include questions from the audience. Books will be on sale and authors available for signings.
