Hugh Grant to play Greek god Zeus in new Netflix series

·

British actor, Hugh Grant, has been cast as the Greek god Zeus for Netflix’s new mythological series KAOS.

The series is due to go into production later this summer and is described as a bold and darkly comedic ‘contemporary vision of a mythical world.’

Janet McTeer of Ozark fame, Cliff Curtis (Fear of the Walking Dead) and David Thewlis (The Sandman) will join Grant as cast members on the Netflix series.

According to Deadline, Grant will play a “seemingly all-powerful” yet “desperately insecure” Zeus, who comes to fear his King of the Gods status is in jeopardy.

(L-R) Hugh Grant, Janet McTeer, Cliff Curtis and David Thewlis.

Thewlis in turn will play Zeus’ brother Hades; McTeer will play Queen of the Gods Hera; and Curtis will play Poseidon, God of the Sea.

Series writer and director, Charlie Covell, said he’s “absolutely thrilled to be making KAOS” and he can’t think “of a more exciting or dynamic team of people to bring everything to life.”

“I believe I’m still in shock at the news that Hugh Grant has agreed to play Zeus — this was my dream,” Covell added.

“He’s leading a stupendous cast of actors and we’re extremely honoured to have them all on board.”

Grant is a BAFTA Award winner who recently landed his second Emmy nomination for his turn in HBO’s The Undoing.
