Greece, Cyprus, Israel and USA hold first ministerial summit on climate action

Greece, Cyprus, Israel and the USA held their first ministerial meeting on climate action this morning.

The main outcome of the summit which was the first in the context of the ‘3+1 Cooperation’ (Greece, Cyprus, Israel and the USA), was the decision to create a joint technical committee of experts to submit recommendations over a road map on climate change.

The summit was launched by Cyprus’ agriculture minister, Costas Kadis, on the sidelines of the 2nd ministerial meeting of Cypriot President, Nicos Anastasiades’ Initiative on Climate Change in the Eastern Mediterranean.

In attendance was Greece’s Minister for climate crisis and civil protection, Christos Stylianides, Israel’s climate protection minister Tamar Zandber and Mark Kasman, director of international relations in the US environmental protection agency attended the meeting.

The ministers will reconvene later this year to finalise the recommendations and commitments under the collaboration.
