Lauren Tsamouras brings Greek-inspired jazz to Marrickville for one-night performance

·

Another Green World is jazz contemporary duo led by pianist and composer Lauren Tsamouras. Returning for one night only, they will perform tomorrow evening in a concert in NSW’s The Living Room Theatre, Marrickville.

This is a new iteration of Another Green World’s project, presenting a fresh set of compositions ahead of the recording of their second album later this year. It’s a rare chance to hear their new work before it’s recorded.

The ensemble draws on elements of Greek traditional music as a way of exploring Tsamouras’ Greek heritage and what it means to be Greek Australian today. The music weaves Greek-inspired melodic and rhythmic ideas through Tsamouras’ distinct compositional voice, blending lyrical beauty, free improvisation and pulsatile structures.

A graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Tsamouras, whose family is from Evia, Greece, has a strong passion for contemporary jazz and is also the recipient of the 2025 Jann Rutherford Memorial Award.

The performance will feature Tsamouras on piano, Hilary Geddes playing guitar, Brendan Clark on bass and Ashley Stoneham on drums, and will offer an intimate glimpse into a body of work in motion — music shaped by lineage, experimentation and collective listening.
