Tributes flow for South Melbourne legend Michael Mandalis

·

Tributes are pouring in for Michael Mandalis, the South Melbourne Hellas icon and five-time Championship winner, following his passing.

A Victorian Football Hall of Fame inductee and South Melbourne FC Hall of Famer, Mandalis was celebrated as a “larger-than-life character” and a “true club person,” deeply loved across the football community.

Despite recent health struggles, his connection to the club never wavered.

“We love you, Michali, and will forever be grateful for everything you gave to Hellas and to Australian football,” the club said in a statement.

A minute’s applause will be held Thursday, February 19 at Lakeside Stadium before the home match against Hume City to honour his legacy.
