The St Spyridon College HSC cohort of 2025 consisted of 64 Year 12 students and 13 Accelerated Year 11 students who studied Modern Greek Extension, Modern Greek Continuers, or Mathematics Advanced with Mathematics Extension 1.
The cohort delivered outstanding results, highlighting the academic excellence and dedication of both the students and the College.
The highest ATAR of 97.65 was achieved by Phillip Preketes, demonstrating exceptional academic performance.
Notably, 6 students achieved an ATAR above 95, while 28% of the entire cohort attained an ATAR exceeding 90, showcasing a strong overall performance across the board.
The success continued with Mariah Sartzetakis earning recognition as All Rounder for achieving the top band across 10 or more units in her respective pattern of study. Year 12 student, Dimitrije Rasic, together with Year 11 Accelerant, Michaela Deftereos, were recognised as Top Achievers in Serbian Continuers and Modern Greek Continuers respectively for receiving one of the highest places in a HSC course in the state.
Additionally, 45% of the cohort were named Distinguished Achievers for attaining the highest possible band in one or more HSC courses. A remarkable 60% of the students’ results were above 80, and 81% of the cohort achieved marks within the top two bands.
The College shared strong results for students undertaking accelerated pathways, with 100% of Mathematics Accelerants achieving a Band 6 or equivalent in their courses studied and 90% of Modern Greek Accelerants achieving a Band 5 or 6, or equivalent in Modern Greek Continuers an/or Modern Greek Extension.
These outcomes highlight both the commitment of students and their teachers, and the effectiveness of the College’s approach to Acceleration for high-performing students.
St Spyridon College’s collective success was further reflected in its ranking of 90th in New South Wales, placing the College in the top 10% of schools in the state. These results underscore the College’s commitment to academic excellence and the dedication of its students and educators.
There was genuine excitement and joy as the students gathered to celebrate their achievements together with their families, Year Advisers and Teachers.
The Head of College, Mrs Amelia Katsogiannis, proudly congratulated the students, stating that “guided by our College motto, nurturing a culture in respect, integrity and excellence, students embraced every opportunity to learn. We are proud of all our students.”
Presiding Priest, Father Steven Scoutas, together with Parish Priest, Father Stavros Ivanós, and Parish President, Mr Elia Economou, commented on these outstanding results.
