Hierarchs pay courtesy visit to the Greek Consulate in Sydney

On Thursday, September 25, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia accompanied hierarchs attending the 2nd Pan-Australian Clergy Synaxis on a courtesy visit to the Consulate General of Greece in Sydney.

The visiting hierarchs included Metropolitan Apostolos of Miletus, representative of the Ecumenical Patriarch; Metropolitan Ignatios of Demetrias and Almyros; Metropolitan Gregorios of Cameroon; Metropolitan Ioustinos of Nea Krini and Kalamaria; Metropolitan Nathanael of Chicago; and Metropolitan Damaskinos of Aetolia and Acarnania.

They were warmly welcomed by Consul General George Skemperis and members of the consular staff.

During the meeting, the Consul General outlined the mission of the Consulate and its support for the Greek diaspora in Australia. Discussions focused on preserving the Greek language and strengthening the Hellenic Orthodox identity among the community.

The hierarchs expressed satisfaction with the close and constructive cooperation between the Consulate and the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia. The meeting concluded with the exchange of good wishes and commemorative gifts.
