Greek Welfare Centre launches 2025 Winter Community Appeal to support families in need

·

The Greek Welfare Centre (GWC) of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia will host its annual Winter Community Appeal on Thursday, 24 July 2025, at Marrickville Town Hall, from 9am to 4pm.

The event calls on the public to donate essential goods to support individuals and families facing hardship during the colder months. Items being collected include packaged food, household items, blankets, gifts, and clothing.

For further information, community members are encouraged to contact GWC Community Services on (02) 9516 2188.

The Greek Welfare Centre, established in 1975, is the welfare arm of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese and has long played a crucial role in supporting vulnerable members of the Greek Australian and broader multicultural community.

Today, GWC provides a wide range of services, particularly in aged care, mental health, family support, drug and alcohol counselling, and community development.

The Winter Community Appeal is part of GWC’s broader commitment to community welfare and inclusion, ensuring that no one is left behind – especially during times of economic and social hardship.
