Michael Theo scores first Logie nomination for role in ‘Austin’

·

Beloved Love on the Spectrum star Michael Theo has been nominated for a Silver Logie for Best Lead Actor in a Comedy for his performance in the ABC’s series Austin, marking a major milestone in his acting career.

This is Theo’s first professional acting role, in which he portrays a neurodiverse young man on a heartfelt journey to discover the identity of his father.

His performance has been praised for its authenticity and charm, with Theo drawing on his real-life experience as an autistic person to bring depth to the character.

Theo stars alongside an impressive cast including My Big Fat Greek Wedding’s Gia Carides, screen veteran Roy Billing, Bridget Jones star Sally Phillips, and BAFTA winner Ben Miller — who is also nominated in the same category.

Austin is also up for Best Scripted Comedy Program at the 2025 Logie Awards, reflecting its critical success and audience resonance.

The ABC has dominated this year’s Logie nominations with 44 nods across all categories — more than any other network or streaming platform. The 65th Logie Awards will take place on Sunday, August 3, at The Star Sydney.
