Anthony Koutoufides in dispute with builder over multi-million mansion in Melbourne

·

Greek Australian footy legend Anthony Koutoufides, along with his wife Susie, have fought back at claims of them dodging payments on the build of their luxury home in Melbourne, Victoria.

The Herald Sun reported that the married couple became involved in the dispute after reportedly not paying the final instalment on their property back in October 2023.

The couple claimed they have followed the law, but the builders Acustruct have acted inappropriately and created a social media campaign against them after they requested an independent inspection.

“They wouldn’t allow me to get an independent person to come in and inspect the place before final payment, as was my right under the contract,’’ the Carlton football player told The Herald Sun.

“Because of that it has escalated, and I had to engage lawyers. There were a few issues that needed to be attended to and weren’t, and I’m obligated to get an independent person to come in before we move in.”

The Koutoufides’ now say their reputation has been affected as other contractors have been involved in the drama.

Acustruct alleges the final payment owed totalled to around $130,000 and has now gone upwards of $180,000.

The Koutoufides’ have since hired lawyers Olivia Terziovski and Imran Fatah from Boutique Lawyers to fight the case.

“This is the most extreme behaviour I’ve seen from a builder in this scenario,” Mr Fatah said. “We are also considering defamation action against Acustruct.”
