Australian Open 2024 draw: Who will Stefanos Tsitsipas and Maria Sakkari face?

·

The Australian Open (AO) 2024 official draw has taken place today and the first round opponents of Stefanos Tsitsipas and Maria Sakkari have finally been revealed.

According to tennis24.gr, Tsitsipas will face Italian Matteo Berrettini in the Australian Open first round. The two had also met in the first round of the 2019 AO, with the Greek tennis player prevailing in four sets.

If Tsitsipas does what he did in the 2019 premiere, then he will face one of the Australians Jordan Thompson or Aleksandar Vukic for the second round, while in the third round his possible opponent is Lorenzo Muzzetti.

Meanwhile, Maria Sakkari will face 29-year-old and No. 92 in the world Nao Hibino in the first round.

In the event that the Greek tennis player passes to the second round, then she will find in front of her either the Chinese player Zhuoxun Bai, or the rising Russian Elina Avanesian. In the third round, it is very likely that she will face either the Belgian Elise Mertens or the Ukrainian Marta Kostiuk.
