WA to host proposed world-title fight between George Kambosos Jr and Vasiliy Lomachenko

·

A world-title showdown between boxing legend, George Kambosos Jr and the former champion of Ukraine, Vasiliy Lomachenko, is reportedly set to take place in Western Australia.

The match will be one of the biggest contests in Australia’s boxing history.

According to The Advertiser, Perth in WA is the overwhelming front-runner to host Kambosos’ shot at world-title redemption against the famous Lomachenko, thanks to the 15,500 attendance capacity at the local RAC Arena.

30-year-old Kambosos, an Australian boxer with Greek heritage, would start as a huge underdog against 35-year-old Ukrainian powerhouse, Lomachenko.

“I would love to fight Lomachenko… It’s a big fight that I would really get up for”, Kambosos told The Advertiser.

This fight gives Kambosos claims to being Australia’s greatest boxer if he comes out victorious.

The fight is slated to take place in April and could be screened in Australia on Fox Sports’ Main Event pay-per-view channel.
