The Greek SmegoBots robotics team will represent Greece at the FIRST LEGO League Asia Pacific Open 2026 in Sydney from July 9–12.
The group of seven students aged 11–16 will compete after strong national results, including 12th place among 55 teams and five awards.
Coaches say the qualification “came as a major and pleasant surprise” and reflects a year of work in robotics, programming and innovation projects.
Coach Christina Agkaliou said teams “actively engage in research, problem-solving, programming, and robotics,” designing robots and developing solutions to scientific challenges.
Students described the trip as an exciting opportunity to meet international peers and showcase their work, while the team is also seeking financial and accommodation support ahead of the competition.
