Previously abandoned Olympic Airways Boeing 727 to be restored

Air Charter group Zela Aviation has acquired two abandoned Boeing 727’s from the former Athens International Airport with the aim of preserving a piece of aviation history in Greece.

Previously, the Olympic Airways aircrafts were parked at Ellinikon International Airport, which had served as the primary international gateway to Greece for over 60 years until operation ended in 2001.

During this project, the aircrafts will be carefully restored and preserved until a final display location has been confirmed.

According to the president of Zela Aviation Andreas Christodoulides, the planes will be used to promote aviation and to help the new generation travel back in time to discover the fascinating world of the aviation industry.
