Greek Community of Melbourne issue statement on wildfires in Greece

·

The Greek Community of Melbourne (GCM) have issued a statement about the wildfires that are still raging across Greece this week.

Wednesday brought no respite to the hundreds of firefighters, volunteers, municipal workers and military personnel who spent all night battling major wildfires in West Attica and Corinthia in Greece.

In the Facebook statement, the GCM said its “thoughts are with all the families who have been affected by this tragedy.”

“At times like these we must come together, show support, and stand in solidarity. Let’s offer a helping hand in any way we can,” the post adds.
