Tahlia Kokkinis walks away victorious against Sawashiro in the Australian Open

After a thrilling two-hour and 18-minute match, Tahlia Kokkinis won against Japan’s Kanon Sawashiro in the Australian Open (AO) 2025 girls’ singles, coming in at 6-2 3-6 6-4.

This comes after the 16-year-old launched her AO 2025 girls’ singles campaign with an impressive win over 10th seed, Rositsa Dencheva, winning 6-3 6-2.

According to Tennis Australia, Kokkinis explained she is “doing it for Australia.”

She is set to face the United Kingdom’s Brooke Black in the third round tomorrow, January 22.
