Greece defeated by the Netherlands but Euro 2024 hopes still alive

·

The Greek national team gave everything against the Netherlands on Monday, but suffered defeat after a well-placed penalty kick by Van Dijk in the third minute of stoppage time.

The players of the Greek national team gave their best on Monday night at the OPAP Arena, but in the end they were defeated by the Netherlands 1-0 and were left empty-handed as they didn’t qualify in their group.

Greece, however, showed that they can hope to qualify for Euro 2024 through the UEFA Nations League.

Greece’s loss came after a penalty was needed in the third minute of stoppage time with Van Dijk defeating Vlahodemos, who during the match had blocked Verkhurst’s penalty kick.

The Netherlands were better overall but Greece played with passion and quite a lot of spirit from the first minute to the last and tried as hard as they could for a goal.
