Secretary General for Greeks Abroad meets with The Greek Herald’s Digital Editor

·

Greece’s Secretary General for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, John Chrysoulakis, met with The Greek Herald‘s Digital Editor Andriana Simos and journalist Ilias Karagiannis in Greece this month.

During the meeting, Mr Chrysoulakis and Miss Simos spoke about the significant role multicultural media and in particular The Greek Herald plays in ensuring Greek diaspora in Australia remain informed about current news related to Greece and their local community.

Mr Chrysoulakis shared his love of Greek history with The Greek Herald’s team.

Several issues concerning Greek Australians were also raised including the expatriate vote and Greek language learning. Mr Chrysoulakis informed Miss Simos and Mr Karagiannis of recent updates to the Greek government’s ‘StaEllinika‘ platform, including a Greek Language Proficiency Test.

The Greek Secretary General then spoke of his plan to travel to Australia sometime in late December and early January to meet with members of the Greek diaspora.

“It was a privilege to meet with Mr Chrysoulakis and speak with him about issues relevant to the Greek diaspora in Australia. We look forward to continue working together to keep our readers informed about the Greek government’s latest initiatives,” Miss Simos said after the meeting.
