Tom Koutsantonis MP vows to resign over Opposition’s LIV Golf tree-cutting claims

·

Infrastructure and Transport Minister Tom Koutsantonis has declared he will resign if opposition claims about the number of trees to be cut down for the controversial North Adelaide LIV Golf course prove accurate.

The Liberal Party has alleged 5,400 trees would need to be removed to make way for the Greg Norman–designed course, slated to relocate from Grange Golf Club by 2028.

Liberal candidate Frank Pangallo cited a report estimating “60 per cent” of the 9,000 trees across existing golf courses could be lost, calling it a “vanity project” in the wrong location.

“There’ll be action here at the Park Lands that South Australians have not seen before, all for a vanity project and a golf course we don’t need,” Pangallo said.

Koutsantonis rejected the figure, insisting there are no finalised design plans and branding the claim “a lie.”

“It’s not true, I don’t know where they got this from,” he said. “I’m prepared to go as far as to say that if this number is accurate, I’ll resign.”
