New Greek Consul General George Skemperis welcomed at NSW Parliament

The new Consul General of Greece in Sydney, George Skemperis, paid a visit to NSW Parliament on Tuesday, September 2 and met with a number of state politicians and officials.

Skemperis met with NSW Minister for Industrial Relations and Work Health and Safety, Sophie Cotsis, and Eleni Petinos MP, where both sides emphasised their shared goal of strengthening ties between Greece and the Greek Australian community.

He was also received by Benjamin Franklin MLC, President of the NSW Legislative Council, where they discussed the “multifaceted presence and longstanding contribution” of Greek Australians in the state.

Franklin wished Skemperis success in his new role and marked the occasion by flying the Greek flag outside Parliament House.
