St Spyridon College students shine at Rostrum public speaking competition

St Spyridon College students from Years 7-10 competed at the Rostrum Voice of Youth Public Speaking Competition on Monday, March 23, held at Santa Sabina College.

The students competing on behalf of St Spyridon College were Evelina B, Sasha G, Rose V, Olivia J, Merryn S and Isla S.

Junior competitors were expected to speak for six minutes while those in the senior bracket spoke for eight minutes.

Their speeches focused on one of the following thought-provoking topics: A Beacon of Hope, Digital Detox, The Voice of Reason and Putting Off Procrastination. All students involved had crafted thoughtful speeches and performed incredibly well.

Evelina B was the youngest student competing in her round and Sasha G was announced the winner of Heat 1. Sasha will proceed to compete at the Regional Finals in May.

Rostrum Australia is a not-for-profit organisation of public speaking clubs founded in 1930 and is one of the longest running public speaking organisation in the world. Their goal is to help their members improve their public speaking skills and to find their authentic voice.
