Australia’s most wanted Hells Angels bikie Angelo Pandeli roams free in Sydney

·

Australia’s most wanted bikie, Angelo Pandeli, was seen on the streets of Sydney after a brief interrogation by the Australian Federal Police (AFP) upon his arrival from Dubai. The situation has raised concerns about why he wasn’t detained.

Pandeli, the national president of the Hells Angels and a key figure in drug trafficking investigations, was released after questioning despite his significant criminal profile.

The AFP informed New South Wales Police of Pandeli‘s imminent arrival while he was en route from Dubai. The 54-year-old has been a top priority for the AFP in recent years, having lived in Dubai since leaving Australia in 2018.

“The decision to deport the man was an independent decision made by Dubai authorities… AFP members returned on the same flight as the man,’’ the AFP said.

“On arrival, the man was escorted by the AFP to a secure room, where a search warrant was executed, with personal belongings seized.”

Pandeli currently resides freely in Sydney.

The AFP claims their “coverage” of the bikie remains intact as his return marks a potential stimulus for criminal activity.

According to The Daily Telegraph, a retired international law enforcement officer said: “The AFP making noises about closing in on him, and then he is deported into their backyard and he hasn’t been arrested is astounding.”

“At this stage there doesn’t appear to be anything stopping [Pandeli] from flying out of the country again,” he added.
