St Spyridon College students attend 42nd Annual Pan-Orthodox Thanksgiving Service

·

Prefects and Year 11 and 12 Legal Studies students from St Spyridon College in Sydney joined clergy, legal dignitaries and members of the wider community at the 42nd Annual Pan-Orthodox Thanksgiving Service this week, marking the commencement of the 2026 Law Term.

The service was held at the Cathedral of the Annunciation in Redfern and was presided over by His Grace Bishop Christophoros of Kerasounta, Chancellor of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia.

Accompanying the students were Very Reverend Fr Steven Scoutas, Parish President Elia Economou, and senior members of staff, underscoring the College’s commitment to faith, civic engagement and the study of law.

The annual service brought together distinguished members of the legal profession, including the Chief Justice of New South Wales, the Honourable Andrew S. Bell, and the NSW Attorney-General, Michael Daley.

The Pan-Orthodox Thanksgiving Service is a longstanding tradition that unites members of the judiciary, legal practitioners and law students in prayer at the beginning of the legal year, seeking guidance, wisdom and integrity in the administration of justice.

For St Spyridon College students, the occasion provided a meaningful opportunity to witness the intersection of faith and public life, while engaging directly with leaders of the legal community at the outset of the 2026 Law Term.
