St George College hosts Greek military delegation for Battle of Crete commemorations

St George College last week welcomed a high-ranking military delegation from Greece as part of the 85th Anniversary Commemorations of the Battle of Crete.

The delegation was led by Konstantinos Bouzos, Chief of Staff of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, and included Colonel Kyriakos Kyriakakos, Defence Attaché of the Embassy of Greece in Australia, Flight Lieutenant Eleni Theodorou, Head of the External Affairs Department of the Public Relations Directorate, and Lambrini Kokkori, Officer for Middle East Affairs at the Directorate of International Relations.

The college hosted the delegation for a formal commemorative assembly and morning tea.

Also present were Cretan Federation of Australia and New Zealand President Mr Emmanuel Mountakis and his wife; Cretan Association of South Australia President Mr Panteli Fridakis; and Greek Consul General of Adelaide Dr Alexandra Theodoropoulos.

Guests were treated to performances by the College Choir, traditional Cretan dances by the Senior Dance Group and a musical tribute celebrating the enduring spirit of the Cretan people.

The college thanked its honoured guests for attending and sharing in the commemorations.
