Parramatta to come alive with the Let’s Go Greek Festival this September

·

Parramatta is set to come alive on Sunday, September 21, when the Let’s Go Greek Festival returns to the grounds of St Ioannis Greek Orthodox Church for its biggest and most spectacular celebration to date.

From 11am through until 9.30pm, more than 60,000 people are expected to pour through the gates to enjoy a day filled with food, music, dance, and family fun, creating an atmosphere of joy and community spirit that will be remembered long after the lights go down.

The festival precinct will be buzzing with energy from the moment it opens, as the irresistible aroma of Greek food fills the air. Over 80 stalls will serve up a dazzling variety of delicacies, from freshly fried loukoumades to sizzling souvlaki and handmade sweets.

Among the culinary showstoppers will be the creation of the largest gyros in the Southern Hemisphere – a mammoth 500-kilogram yeeros prepared by Victoria Yeeros, guaranteed to draw crowds eager to witness history in the making.

On stage, the entertainment program will be equally spectacular. Festivalgoers will be treated to an exclusive Sydney performance by Greek superstar Giannis Ploutarhos, who will share the stage with his daughter Katerina and his full band, flown in from Greece especially for the occasion. This full-length concert is being hailed as the festival’s most impressive headline act yet, with organisers keeping the exact performance time under wraps to build anticipation and excitement.

Before and after the headline show, the stage will pulse with music from across the Hellenic and Australian scenes. The Greek Australian band IHO NYX will lead the charge, joined by the powerful vocals of Maraya Vavasis, local sensation Nikita Ellenis, and Jamison on the clarino ensuring the crowd stays captivated. Much-loved DJs Georgie D and Jimmy V will keep the rhythm going throughout the day, making sure the festival’s soundtrack never falters.

Families will find plenty to delight the little ones, with donkey rides, carnival attractions, and children’s activities creating an atmosphere where generations can come together.

Friends and families alike will gather in the festive surrounds, browsing colourful market stalls, tasting traditional flavours, and soaking up the celebratory spirit of the day.

Adding to the thrill of the occasion will be the festival raffle, boasting more than $20,000 in cash prizes, a return trip to Greece for two, and an array of other rewards for lucky winners. And as is tradition, the celebrations will reach their grand finale with a fireworks display, lighting up the Parramatta sky in a spectacular blaze of colour.

The festival continues to flourish thanks to the generous support of the NSW Government, Multicultural NSW, and the City of Parramatta Council, as well as its Major Sponsor Aussie Industries, Community Sponsor Greek Law, and Agapi Sponsor Divine Family Funerals, all of whom help make this cornerstone event of Sydney’s cultural calendar possible.

With food, music, rides, raffles, fireworks, and the most impressive headline act in its history, the Let’s Go Greek Festival promises to be a cultural extravaganza like no other. Parramatta is ready to welcome the community for a day that will bring the Greek spirit to life in its most vibrant and unforgettable form.
