Volume of minutes from 7th International Summer University in Hydra published in Sydney

The volume of the minutes of the 7th International Summer University Greek Language, Culture and Media in Hydra was published in Sydney, Australia.

The volume, which was edited by the Professor of the University of Ioannina, Nicoletta Tsitsanoudis – Mallidis, and the Lecturer of Modern Greek Studies Program of Macquarie in Australia, Dr Patricia Koromvokis, is the outcome of an impactful partnership between two continents, two countries, two universities and their human resources under the unprecedented conditions of the coronavirus pandemic.

In particular, the volume has been published by the Laboratory for the Study of Social Issues, Media and Education of the Department of Early Childhood Education of the School of Education Sciences of the University of Ioannina, in collaboration with the Modern Greek Studies Program of the Department of Media, Communications, Creative Arts, Language, and Literature (MCCALL) of the Faculty of Arts of Macquarie University, and is supported by the Macquarie Greek Studies Foundation Limited and its honourable members.

It includes the conference presentations of the 7th International Summer University Greek Language, Culture and Media, which was held with the participation of The Circle of Hellenic Academics in Boston on the Greek island of Hydra in July 2021.

Dr Patricia Koromvokis was one of the editors of the book.

The collective publication is entitled Language and Freedom of Expression. It commemorates the 200 years since the Greek Revolution and aims to highlight a series of current and modern scientific issues that emphasise the dialectical relationship between language and expression and, more specifically, the Greek language and the freedom of expression.

In the volume there is the participation of the Honorable Prokopios Pavlopoulos, Triantafyllos Ampanis, Martina Möllering, Theophilos Premetis, Ioannis Chrysoulakis, Minas Pashopoulos, Stavros D. Nikolopoulos, Thodoris Papaioannou, Eleni Tsalkatidou, Nikoletta Tsitsanoudis – Mallidis, Aggeliki Venetsanou, Patricia Koromvokis, Ioanna Lekakou, Penelope Vougioukli – Kabaki, Athanasios Michalis, Marina Tzakosta, Vasiliki Kantzeli, Panagiotis Douros, Konstantinos Mpesinas, Manos Tsalamanios, Kelly Polychroniou, Dimitris Karantonis.

The volume will be officially presented in autumn 2022, as part of a series of events both in Greece and Australia. Finally, it will be distributed to all the participants of the 8th International Summer University, which will take place between 10-15 July, on the island of Kastellorizo.
