Georgia Kikiros to represent Western Australia in historical ANZAC tour

·

A Year 10 student from St Andrew’s Grammar in Western Australia has been selected to represent the state during a historical ANZAC tour.

Georgia Kikiros is one of ten students selected to participate in a 10-day tour to Sydney and New Zealand from April 16 next year.

The 2023 program gives students an opportunity to investigate the ANZAC legacy and commemorate the 78th anniversary of the end of World War II.

To be selected as Ambassadors on the tour, students from across WA were asked to prepare and submit a written response on the importance of efforts on the homefront during the war.

According to a Facebook post from St Andrew’s Grammar, Georgia submitted a diary entry from the perspective of a young woman joining the Australian Women’s Land Army.

“We are so excited for you, Georgia, and cannot wait to hear all about your journey!” the school added in the post.

Greece’s Secretary General for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy, John Chrysoulakis, has also sent a letter of congratulations to Georgia on her successful application.

“One should never forget that Australians and Greeks have always been friends and allies, being on the right side of history,” Mr Chrysoulakis’ letter read.

“I am sure that you will make the most of this opportunity and gain every experience and knowledge that it will offer you.”
