Brotherhood of Chalkidiki ‘Aristotelis’ celebrates record attendance at Taverna Luncheon

·

The Brotherhood of Chalkidiki ‘Aristotelis’ of NSW celebrated a successful annual Sunday Taverna Luncheon, with many new and familiar faces joining in a day filled with food, music and community spirit.

Guests enjoyed live entertainment, dancing, and a feast prepared by Greg Akridas and his team from Aegean 2.0. Organisers described it as “a great day,” thanking the committee for its hard work in delivering another successful event.

President Costa Dantos said he was thrilled to see such a strong turnout and the continuing involvement of younger generations.

“Judging by record attendances at all of our recent events — especially the strong presence of our youth — I believe the forefathers of our association, many of whom were our parents and grandparents, would be very proud of what we are achieving,” he said.

“But without your ongoing support, there would not be an association, so we thank you all very much for coming.”

Mr Dantos also extended a warm welcome to attendees from across the Greek and Cypriot communities, as well as visiting association presidents, including Cathy Valis (Athenian Association of NSW) and Christos Pazaridis (Pan-Thracian Association “Democritus”).

Several Chalkidiki families were represented at the event, including the Arnis (Vavdos), Dantos (Agios Panteleimonas), Diavatiotis (Agios Panteleimonas), Georgalas (Nea Moudania), Gerakis (Vavdos), Kelezis (Taxiarchis), Kioumis (Nea Moudania), Makridis (Nea Moudania), Malagaras (Olynthos), Mavros (Agios Mamas), Papadopoulos (Vatopedi), Papakonstantinos (Nea Kallikratia), Tekirdaglis (Ammouliani), Tratselas (Agios Mamas), and Valassis (Fourka) families.

Mr Dantos encouraged attendees to become members of the Brotherhood, noting: “You don’t have to be from Chalkidiki to join — membership helps support our activities and stay connected. It’s only $10 a year, and we’d love for more people to get involved.”

Special thanks were given to Vicky Tsakirou and Mr Dantos for capturing the day in photos and video.

Looking ahead, the Brotherhood announced its next major gathering — the Annual Christmas Picnic, to be held at Carss Bush Park Lifesaving Hall in December.
