Greek Australian, Anthony Fanos, has been with the Football Brilliance Academy (FBA), under the guidance of coach and founder Nikos Mouzourakis, since 2019 and has been a part of the full time elite program since its inception in 2022.

In September 2022, Anthony caught the eye of the FBA’s proud ambassador and Greece’s greatest footballer, George Karagounis, whilst he was touring Sydney, New South Wales this year.

Anthony was then offered an opportunity to play for Panathinaikos FC at an annual Easter football tournament, the Paiania Talent Cup, playing amongst some of the best talent in Greece.

Anthony had an immediate impact in the tournament and caught the eye of coaches and club scouts instantaneously.

It comes to no surprise that he was offered a spot in the Under-13s of Panathinaikos for next season. According to the head of the Academy, coaches and scouts, Anthony is considered a top talent for the future.

Anthony’s determination and stamina in his work ethic is extremely rare to find in any common 12-year-old. As a person and footballer, he is a true representation of FBA’s philosophy and principles. He will be returning to Greece in the near future to be part of the Under-13s for the 2023-2024 season.

We also extend our congratulations to Anthony’s parents, who also make sacrifices to allow for opportunities like this, whilst respecting every decision the academy has made regarding their children and placing complete trust in us.

“As an academy we are very proud of this achievement in creating these opportunities for our young aspiring players,” Mr Mouzourakis said.

“We would like to thank George Karagounis and Panathinaikos F.C. for giving Anthony this opportunity. Enjoy your new journey Anthony. Be humble and keep working hard. Bravo!”
