First ever Greek series on Netflix cracks the top 10 in Australia

The first ever Greek crime drama series, Maestro in Blue, on Netflix has made it into the top 10 on the streaming platform in Australia and the US.

Set on the Greek island of Paxos, the series was shot in the Greek language but was translated into English after being picked up by Netflix for international distribution.

The show has broken records as it is the first ever Greek series to hit Netflix and in the US, it is the only entry in the top 10 that is not a Netflix Original.

Maestro in Blue tells the story of a failing musician who travels to Paxos to organise the local music festival but falls in love with a fellow musician.

Despite the story sounding like a romantic novel, it quickly becomes a juicy crime drama after someone is murdered in the Paxos community.

The series is written by Christoforos Papakaliatis and directed by him alongside Akis Polizos. It is in production for a second season.
