Hard Rock joins forces with GEK Terna for new luxury casino in Athens

·

Greek construction firm GEK Terna and Hard Rock International announced this week that they have joined forces for the development of the Integrated Resort and Casino (IRC) in Greece, dubbed INSPIRE Athens.

Construction is set to start next year with the greek construction group holding 49 percent share of the project.

This project is the first time that Hard Rock will be participating in casino investment in Europe, particularly this casino which is part of The Ellinikon project, Europe’s largest coastal park.

Scheduled to open to the public in 2026, the “Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Athens” aims to become a popular international destination, offering visitors a mix of entertainment, fine dining, luxury 5-star accommodation, outdoor spaces, a world-class gaming floor, expo hall, ball rooms, meeting areas and support spaces, and high-end shopping.

The casino in Athens is the newest addition to Hard Rock International’s portfolio which includes venues in over 70 countries spanning 265 locations.

George Peristeris is the Chairman and CEO of GEK Terna Group and says ““This development will create a premium tourism spot, expected to offer employment to thousands of people, yield significant revenues to the public sector, and add value to Greece’s brand.”

“Along with Hard Rock we are realizing a private investment of over 1 billion euros, reaffirming our trust in Greece’s prospects and potential.”

Upon its completion, Ellinikon will be a destination in and of itself, creating a full kilometre of public beach, making access to the sun and sand of the Athenian Riviera even easier for day trippers from the city and the island-hopping boats of Piraeus.
