South Australia’s Greek Community mourns the sudden passing of President Bill Gonis

The Greek Orthodox Community of South Australia is mourning the sudden and unexpected passing of its President Mr Bill Gonis OAM.

Mr Gonis was the longest serving President of the Community which speaks volumes for his desire to give something back to Community.

In a statement, the Community wrote: “Mr Gonis was a humble man, an exemplary leader with a vision. He will be sorely missed.”

“We are deeply saddened and still in shock, as is the rest of the multicultural community, with his sudden passing,” the Community statement reads.

“The Board and the Supervisory Committees of the Greek Orthodox Community of SA extend their sincere and deepest sympathies to his wife Christine, his son Peter and his daughter Betty. May his soul rest in peace.”

Details of Mr Gonis’ funeral will be announced in due course.
