US Ambassador confirms plans for Trump to visit Greece

·

US President Donald Trump is expected to visit Greece, according to the US Ambassador to Athens, Kimberly Guilfoyle.

Speaking during a visit to the state ERT headquarters, Guilfoyle said plans were underway but declined to confirm timing.

“Well, I can’t give you the exact date – a lot of things are happening – but he is going to come to Greece, and so is Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and Secretary of State Marco Rubio,” she said.

Athens has maintained strong relations with Washington for years, ties that have continued under the Trump administration, even as relations with some European Union partners have been less consistent.

Guilfoyle has previously expressed hope the visit would include a stop in the Greek capital.

“Well of course we would all love that, wouldn’t we? Have [Trump] give a speech at the Acropolis. I hope he will come, I’ll ask him to come,” she said.
