The Greek national robotics team delivered an outstanding performance at the International Robot Olympiad (IRO 2025), returning from Australia’s Gold Coast with major international distinctions and reinforcing Greece’s growing reputation in robotic sports and youth innovation.
The competition was held on the Gold Coast from 17 to 21 December 2025, bringing together teams from around the world in one of the most demanding international robotics events.
Competing as the HELLAS IROC TEAM, the Greek delegation secured three gold medals, three bronze medals and 11 technical awards, highlighting both competitive success and technological excellence.
The Greek delegation was led by Emmanouil Tselepís, President of the Hellenic Robotics Federation, alongside Maria Tsiaparidou, General Secretary of IROC Hellas, Grigoris Kalogiantsidis, Secretary of the Federation and Head of Mission, and team coach Nikolaos Tzamtzis. Their presence ensured organisational readiness, competitive preparation and unified national representation throughout the competition.
The Greek National Robotic Sports Team 2025 comprised the following athletes:
Kallirroi Anastasiou, Maria Isabella Vogiatzis, Vasiliki Kelandria, Danae Kyriaki Karaliota, Rafail-Georgios Koumpasaros, Aikaterini Orliakli, Angelos Telcha, Apollon Tselepís, Orfeas Tselepís, Ifigeneia Tselepí and Anastasios Xanthoulis.
The results were widely recognised as a reflection of systematic preparation, strong coaching guidance and the athletes’ sporting ethos, confirming Greece’s ability to compete at the highest level in a modern field that combines sport, science and technology.
Greek robotics officials noted that robotic sports cultivate discipline, strategy, teamwork and advanced skills in engineering, programming and artificial intelligence – areas in which young Greeks continue to distinguish themselves internationally.
The success at IRO 2025 on the Gold Coast is being viewed as both the culmination of sustained effort and a foundation for Greece’s continued international presence in robotic sports competitions.
