Athens wins Europe’s Leading Cultural City Destination Award

Greece’s capital city Athens has beaten nine other European cities to win ‘Europe’s Leading Cultural City Destination Award’ for 2023.

The award recognises Athens as the top destination for cultural enthusiasts, with the city known for its high standards and best practices in the travel and tourism industry.

Facing competition from other renowned international cities such as Lisbon, London, Paris, and Prague, Athens was able to maintain its status due to its extensive historical and cultural legacy.

For many tourists, Athens is often renowned for its extensive museum collections, its diverse architecture and cultural festivals, which were all key factors which helped the city receive the prestigious award.

According to World Travels Awards founder Graham Cooke, the winner represents a stellar example of tourism excellence.
