John Anastasiadis appointed new senior coach at Heidelberg United FC

·

Heidelberg United FC has announced John Anastasiadis as its new NPLM Senior Coach, ahead of season 2024.

Anastasiadis joins the club after four seasons with A-League side Western United, where he was a valued member of the coaching department.

In a statement on the club’s social media on October 24, Heidelberg United FC welcomed Anastasiadis to the Olympic Village.

“John is a former player of the Club and a highly respected and experienced coach, we wish John, his support staff, and the team all the best for the upcoming season,” the statement read.

Anastasiadis joined Western United from Bentleigh Greens in NPL Victoria, where he built a long list of accolades that included an NPL Premiership, two Championships, and a Dockerty Cup title.

Across an eight-year spell at Bentleigh, Anastasiadis twice led the team to FFA Cup semi-finals in 2014 and 2018, ultimately falling just short against A-League opposition.

Transitioning into a professional environment, Anastasiadis played a significant role in the growth of Western United and would help the club win its inaugural Championship in 2022.

Anastasiadis replaces George Katsakis, who is the NPL1 games coached record holder and will go down as one of the great coaches in Victoria.
