Greek National Robotics Team competes in Australia

·

The Greek National Robotics Team is in Australia for the 27th International Robotics Olympiad (IROC 2025, 17-21 December), nearly a year after Greece celebrated its historic success at IROC 2024 in South Korea, where the team won eight medals and topped Europe.

This year, the team travelled entirely without state support, with families covering costs of over €3,500 per student, highlighting the financial burden and lack of institutional backing. Many talented children who could not afford the expenses missed out.

Despite Greece investing millions in robotics kits for schools, a lack of curriculum integration and resources limits their use, turning international representation into a privilege for those with financial means.

The Greek delegation, officially recognised by the Hellenic Federation of Robotics & Technology Sports (ELOART), is competing with dedication, underscoring both the country’s talent and the urgent need for consistent national support in educational robotics.
