Yorgos Lanthimos’ film ‘Poor Things’ scoops multiple awards at the BAFTAs

Yorgos Lanthimos’ film ‘Poor Things’ has scooped several awards at this year’s British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA). 

Held on Sunday, February 18, the annual awards show honours the best British and international contributions to film.

According to The Guardian, ‘Poor Things’ – which stars Hollywood actress Emma Stone as main character Bell Baxter – took out five BAFTA awards.

These included Best Leading Actress for Stone, recognition for Production Design, Costume Design, Makeup and Hair and Special Visual Effects.

In her acceptance speech at the award ceremony, Stone thanked Lanthimos for his support.

“Yorgos, thank you for our friendship and the gift of Bella [Baxter]. I am so thankful for her,” Stone said.

Stone also added a special shoutout to her mother, “because she’s the best person in the world.”

“Without her, none of this would exist, including my life. So, thank you, mum,” the actress concluded.
